Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of Step Stones, an AI-powered employee onboarding and training platform operated by Manifold Metrics LLC. By creating an account, accessing, or using Step Stones, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you are using Step Stones on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the platform.

Step Stones is a platform that enables organizations to create and manage employee onboarding and training. The platform provides: Tools for managers to create interactive training modules with progress tracking and multimedia content (PDFs, videos, audio, documents). An AI-powered chat assistant that answers employee questions about your uploaded training materials and provides citations to source documents. Document management with role-based access controls and visibility settings. Anonymized analytics showing aggregate trends, knowledge gaps, and completion rates. User management with role-based permissions (Employee, Team Lead, Manager, Admin). Audit logging for security and compliance. You are responsible for creating and uploading your own training content. The specific features available to you depend on your subscription tier and may be subject to usage limits.

Step Stones operates on a subscription basis with multiple tiers (Free Trial, Starter, Pro, Enterprise), each with different limits on users, storage, documents, and AI queries. Payment is processed through Stripe and subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You are responsible for maintaining valid payment information. We may suspend or terminate service for non-payment. Automatic upgrades to a higher tier will not occur unless you explicitly enable this option in your admin settings. If you exceed your plan limits without automatic upgrades enabled, we may temporarily restrict features or access until you manually upgrade. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis at our discretion. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings, and cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period.

We will do our best to provide uninterrupted access to Step Stones and strive to keep the platform available and operational at all times. However, we cannot guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance when possible, though emergency maintenance may occur without notice for security or stability issues. Internet-based services can experience unexpected outages due to factors beyond our control. We are not liable for service interruptions, downtime, or data loss, and we do not guarantee any specific uptime percentage.

You agree to: Provide accurate information when creating your account. Protect your login credentials and not share accounts. Ensure that content you upload (documents, training materials) does not violate laws or third-party rights (copyright, trademark, privacy). Use the platform only for its intended purpose of employee training and onboarding. Not attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or misuse the platform. Manage user access appropriately within your organization. Comply with your subscription usage limits. Stay within the scope of your subscription tier and upgrade if needed. You are solely responsible for the content you upload and share through Step Stones.

Step Stones includes AI-powered features such as a chat assistant that answers questions based on your training materials. We strive to provide accurate responses with clear citations to source documents within the technological capabilities of current AI systems. However, important limitations apply: AI responses are generated by machine learning models and may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate. You should verify important information before relying on it. The AI assistant uses your organization's uploaded documents and training content as reference material to generate responses, but the underlying AI model has been trained on external sources and general knowledge. AI-generated content is provided for informational and educational purposes only and should not replace professional judgment or expert advice. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of AI responses, and we recommend verification of critically important content.

Our Privacy Policy (available on our website) explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using Step Stones, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy. Key points: We use industry-standard security measures but cannot guarantee absolute security. Analytics are anonymized and do not track individual employee performance. You retain ownership of content you upload. Our AI features are self-hosted and do not share your content with third-party AI services. Payment processing is handled by Stripe.

Ownership is divided as follows: Step Stones Platform: Manifold Metrics LLC owns all rights to the Step Stones software, platform, features, interface, and functionality. These are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Your Content: You retain all ownership rights to content you upload (training materials, documents, user data). By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to host, store, and process your content solely to provide our services to you. This license ends when you delete your content or terminate your account, after which your data will be permanently deleted after a brief retention period. Your License: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use Step Stones for your internal business purposes according to your subscription tier. You may not resell, redistribute, or create derivative works from our platform.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: Step Stones is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We disclaim all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption. Our total liability to you for all claims related to Step Stones is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for inaccuracies in AI-generated responses, data loss due to user error, service interruptions, or third-party actions. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability, so these limitations may not apply to you.

Either party may terminate this agreement: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these terms, engage in illegal activity, fail to pay, or misuse the platform. Upon termination: Your access to Step Stones will end. We will retain your data for 30 days to allow for data export, then delete it according to our Privacy Policy. You remain responsible for any fees owed through the termination date. Provisions related to intellectual property, liability limitations, and dispute resolution survive termination.

We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. For material changes, we will notify you by email or through the platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Step Stones after changes become effective means you accept the new terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the platform and may cancel your subscription. We will maintain the effective date at the top of this document. These terms were last updated in November 2025.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Manifold Metrics LLC is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Both parties waive any right to jury trial. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right. These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Manifold Metrics LLC regarding use of the Step Stones platform.
